Anyone know where I can get pure Kona coffee without paying an arm and a leg?
rsb332002 asked:
They have it at The Fresh Market for $24.99 a pound. The blend is cheaper of course, at $8.99 a pound. I really want to try the pure, though.

Mine comes form Kona….$10 lb plus shipping. My aunt sends it to me. Sumatra Mandheling has about the same caffeine and similar roast.

Here’s the Kona coffee farmer speaking who has just discovered this site:
Pure, or 100% Kona coffee, is available for $18 and up on Ebay. Sometimes. But comes with shipping costs. And no guarantree to be the ‘real stuff’. 100% Kona can go as high as $50 in the US and $80 in Europe. That depends on the brand and its marketing. And of course how FRESH it is. Kona BLENDS are nothing but inferior Central American beans, sometimes with 10% Kona beans included. Sold at a much higher price than the beans are worth. And doesn’t taste like a Kona at all. Kona Blends should be taken off the market, but 3 or 4 local Hawaiian processors earn an arm and a leg by selling those to gullible tourists. And pay the local politicians handsomely so that the laws don’t change. Local Kona Farmers sell directly to you. They organized recently in the KonaCoffeeFarmersAssociation and on their website you can find multiple small farms who will sell to you directly. They guarantee that you are not getting duped by their members and it is real, fresh Kona in the bag.
But the hard hand labor on the rocky soil will make the Kona Coffee never cheap, nor is anybody getting rich from it. Cheap Kona is either not fresh, or fake!
